OUR STORY
ABOUT US
Welcome to the annual North American Mandaean Convention! This year marks our 30th anniversary. In 1996, what was then called the Mandaean Camp began as a small gathering of around 50 people at a campsite in Grand Bend, Ontario. Attendees bunked in cabins surrounded by woods, formed lasting friendships around bonfires, and gathered in communal dining halls filled with food, music, dancing, and laughter.
It was one of the first events of its kind in North America, created to unite Mandaeans and strengthen community identity. The following year, attendance more than doubled, reflecting the community’s clear desire to build something lasting. Over the decades, that early momentum shaped what the Convention has become today.
